MY Favourite Places to Visit

Hua Hin Railway Station

September 2010

Built during the reign of King Rama VI, and only a short distrance from the centre of town.  Hua Hin's railway station and adjacent royal waiting roo are attractive.  The brightly painted wooden buildings that are Thai in concept and design to have a "Victorian"feel.

Maruekhathaiyawan Palace

September 2010

Maruekhathaiyawan Palace between Cha-Am and Hua Hin was build by King Vajiravudh (Rama VI) as a seaside summer retreat in 1923.  The overall design of the Palace was done by the King himself, and it was built to be a very comfortable place with excellent ventilation and niches filled with water in the pillars to keep out ants.

The Palace is also called “The Palace of Love and Hope".  After the King’s death in 1925, the Palace was left deserted. Today, it has been fully restored and you can still see some of the King’s furniture like his writing desk with pencils and paper, sofa and bed. Walking around the Palace will give you a rare insight into how the Thai Royal Family used to live almost a century ago.

Hua Hin Safari & Adventure Park

September 2010

A safari park that allows guests to ride on elephants and feed young tiger cubs.  The elephant rides are amazing - sitting on the elephants which felt like sitting on a 2 storey building.  The scary feeling accelerates when the elephant starts to walk downhill and in the river taking a bath.  Amaling experience.  Feeding the tiger cub is fun too since the feeling is just like holding and feeding a young puppy, but in fact you are holding a tiger.  Highly recommend.
