Mellben Seafood (龍海鮮螃蟹王)
From humble beginnings of a small stall along Alexandra Road in 1988 to a popular household name for exquisite seafood dining. Mellben Seafood showcase an array of delectable seafood and Chinese cuisine with a strong Singaporean identity using qualify ingredients.
One of the tantalizing signature dishes truly unique to Mellben is the Clayport Crab Vermicelli Soup, served in a luscious and savory thick milky broth, stewed with pure natural sweetness from the crab essence. My personal favourite however is the butter-sauced crab with the creamy butter sauce where you can dip your french bread in.
Boon Tong Kee (文東記)
In 1979, Mr. Thian Boon Hua started a small stall in Chinatown serving Cantonese chicken rice. Building upon the popularity of his silky white sauce chicken rice and emphasis on quality service, he rallied his family members to establish Boon Tong Kee’s first restaurant at Balestier Road in 1983.
Best chicken rice I have tasted in Singapore.
Song Fa Bak Kut Teh
Johor Road, Singapore, year 1969 – Beads of perspiration gathered at Yeo Eng Song’s brow as he served another bowl of piping hot Bak Kut Teh to the table beside his pushcart stall. The Bak Kut Teh is running out. ..It is time to retrieve his meats from the chiller at his friend’s liquor stall down the road….And so, these were the humble beginnings of Song Fa Bak Kut Teh.
I DON'T NEED TO SAY ANYMORE !!
Ya Kun Kaya Toast
The year was 1926. Clutching a black wooden suitcase, 15-year-old Loi Ah Koon scrambled frantically on board an old Chinese junk poised to set sail from Hainan Island to Singapore. Started selling coffee, eggs and toast on a street stall, Ah Koon slowly become more and more popular and his "cafe"has now bcome one of the signature of Singapore. The kaya jam and butter spread within a crispy piece of thin toast, served with a running egg and cup of hot Singaporean coffee - what more can you ask for for a breakfast before a day of stressful work.
