MY Favourite Places to Visit

Grand Palace

November 2011

The Grand Palace and Wat Prakaew command respect from all who have walked in their sacred grounds. Built in 1782, and for 150 years the home of Thai Kings and the Royal court, the Grand Palace continues to have visitors in awe with its beautiful architecture and intricate detail. Wat Pra Kaew enshrines Phra Kaew Morakot (the Emerald Buddha), the sacred Buddha image meticulously carved from a single block of emerald.  This is a MUST SEE in Bangkok.

Damnoen Saduak Floating Market

November 2011

The most famous of the floating markets is Damnoen Saduak, about 100 kilometers southwest of Bangkok. This buzzing market is at its best in the early morning before the crowds arrive and the heat of the day builds up.  Lots to buy and fun to visit.  Buying on the river from a boat.

Temple of Dawn

November 2011

The Temple of Dawn or Wat Arun is name after the Indian god of dawn, Aruna. It is located on the west bank of the Chao Phraya River. King Taksin chose this 17th century Wat for his royal temple and palace. The temple was formerly known as Wat Makok and renamed to Wat Jaeng, literally means Temple of Dawn, when he restored it.

Chatuchak Weekend Market

November 2011

This weekend market is located near to Mo Chit BTS Station. This is one of the largest and cheapest weekend markets in the world. Find here: clothes, shoes, Thai silk, antiques, plants, food and more.  The chicken rice sold in the market is also worth trying.

Asiatique Riverfront

November 2017

During the reign of King Rama V. Siam, Port of East Asiatic was established and it became the gateway of country’s International trade the channel of country’s modernization and the key to country’s independence.  This pier signaled the beginning of international trade between the Kingdom of Siam and European nations and was the key to Siam maintaining the sovereignty and independence it enjoys to this day.  Today, that same area which the East Asiatic pier occupies is being restored to its original glory under the name “ASIATIQUE The Riverfront”,
the first and the largest night-lifestyle venue riverfront in Asia located on the Chao Phraya River.

This is one of my favourite places in Bangkok, comprising of restaurants, Bangkok street food, shopping and massage.  There is also a "Bangkok Eye"situating at Asiatque by the RiverFront as its landmark.  This place is easily accessible either by taxi or by ferry.

Terminal 21

November 2017

Terminal 21 is a shopping mall.  Not a huge one, merely one of 6 storeys.  But this is one of my favourite shopping malls in Bangkok.  The shops in the mall were designed to be small streets, and the shops are not those branded popular shops, but ones that are opened by individuals, so the clothes, shoes, jewelleries sold there are not expensive, but at the same time,  has its own deseign and individuality.

There are nice Thai restaurants there, plus the lower ground floor has a food court, supermarket and food stalls selling Thai street food.  It is right next to a BTS station around Sukumvit Soi 19.  Convenient and a place I will visit recurringly.

HealthLand - Spa & Massage

120 North Sathorn Rd. Silom, Bangrak Bangkok 10500

www.healthlandspa.com

You cannot possibly not do massages whilst you are in the land of Thailand.  This is one place which I normally visit.  A 2 storey building with different types of massages - foot and body.  Environment is relaxing and massage therapists are good.  A place that I visit everytime I visit Bangkok.
