MY Favourite Places to Visit

熊本城 (Kumamoto Castle)

April 2015

Kumamoto Castle's history dates to 1467, when fortifications were established by Ideta Hidenobu.  The castle was besieged in 1877 during the Satsuma Rebellion, and the castle keep and other parts were burned down.  The signature being curved stone walls, known as musha-gaeshi, as well as wooden overhangs, were designed to prevent attackers from penetrating the castle.

In 1960, the castle keep was reconstructed using concrete.  From 1998 to 2008, the castle complex underwent restoration work, during which most of the 17th century structures were rebuilt.

Another place worth visiting next to the Kumamoto Castle is the Sakura-No-Baba Josaien.

阿蘇 (ASO Farmland)

April 2015

阿蘇. Each room is in the shape of a Mongolian Tent (Bau), so looking the whole landscape, it's a landscape of ceramic Mongolian tents.  Very grand and beautiful scenery.  The best part of this ASO Farmland is its sauna and hotspring facility.  Each of the sauna and hotspring facility has 12-13 different baths and saunas using different chemicals and water style.  The experience is really good and especially going to those hotsprings before bed will give you a comfortable dreamless night.ASO Farmland is a healthy resort situating in

地獄巡禮 (Journey to Hell)

April 2015

The name of this sounds scary but this is actually a tour towards different parts of the one of the biggest volcano in Kyushu.  This tourist attraction situates in Beppu and comprises of 8 different theme parks - all named "Hell parks".  Different parts of the volvano during its eruption have produced different lava which through years have led to the volcano water expressing different textures and waters.  These theme parks were named depending on the portion of volcano water colour and texture.

Please refer to the pics to the left.  Definitely worth visiting.  Really cool....

You can also experience food using these hotspring water to boil or steam.  Not very tasty but defiitely healthy.
