Facts (Ho Chi Minh City)

MY Favourite Places to Visit

War Remants Museum

May 2008

This is a very interesting museum with a lot of information, pictures and diaries from war reporters about the truth of the Vietnamese war.  You can really imagine how inhumane and toturing war is.  I am ausually able to spend hours in museums, but for this one, I can only spend 45 minutes because looking back at this history is just too sad.  The Prisoners of War model is especially real and scary....

Cu Chi Tunnels

August 2019

The Củ Chi tunnels were the location of several military campaigns during the Vietnam War, and were the Viet Cong's base of operations for the Tết Offensive in 1968.

The tunnels were used by Viet Cong soldiers as hiding spots during combat, as well as serving as communication and supply routes, hospitals, food and weapon caches and living quarters for numerous North Vietnamese fighters. The tunnel systems were of great importance to the Viet Cong in their resistance to American forces, and helped to counter the growing American military effort.  A great historical place to visit.

Mekong River

August 2019

Boarding a small motor boat from a small town approximately 2 hours drive from the Ho Chi Minh City is the Mekong River.  Travelling on that small motor boat, we travelled along the Mekong River where we were able to on-board factories that situates in houses on the river and where villagers man made coconut candies, popcorns, snake wine and all sorts of handcrafts.  Thereafter is a hike in one of the villages along the Mekong River where we were able to have lunch in one of the villagers' house, to experience, real village home-cooked Vietnamese food.  One of the best meals of that trip.

Mekong River is definitely a local tour trip that is worth going if you are travelling to HCMC!
